Award-winning pianist Duncan Haynes, recently returned to Aotearoa after 20 years abroad, presents “Directions in Jazz”, a series of concerts celebrating different aspects of the jazz tradition.
“The Hard Bop Session” May 7th at Kapiti Playhouse, Paraparaumu features the all-swinging, hard-blowing sound of Hard Bop (Herbie Hancock, Horace Silver, Lee Morgan, Cedar Walton, Donald Byrd, Wayne Shorter).
“The Cool Jazz Session” May 14th at St Peters, Paekakariki features the sophisticated and tasty sound of West Coast and Cool Jazz of the 1950s (Gerry Mulligan, Dave Brubeck, The Modern Jazz Quartet, Miles Davis, Chet Baker, Shorty Rogers, Lennie Tristano, Lee Konitz, Stan Getz).
