Progress is being made rapidly on the new ZEAL Kapiti Youth Development Center. The million-dollar facility is set to open on the 28th of June, on Rimu Road, and it’s coming along well so far.

“The new youth development centre is a space for young people to discover and express their creativity”, says manager David Orchard. “We have a tagline of turning young people from consumers to contributors”.

The building will include such amenities as a kitchen, music rehearsal rooms, and a creative workshop space. There’s also going to be an after-school lounge, a digital design room and an “event space” with lighting and sound setup. Although it’s not expected to be ready upon opening, there’s also an outdoor space planned.

The center promises to be a great place for young people, especially creatives, to get in touch with others and to collaborate on projects. As always at ZEAL, you get out what you put in, and youth that go there will effectively run the space. Music and dance events, workshops or conferences will also be able to be hosted at the facility.

“There are also many opportunities for young people to give back.  These include community events and local fundraisers where teams of young people have been giving their time and newfound skills to make these events successful”, says David Orchard. And with the nationwide coverage that ZEAL have, the Kapiti Youth Development Center promises a lot.

WHEN: Opening expected 28th June

WHERE: 130 Rimu Road, Paraparaumu
