Council to kick off public discussions about Kapiti growth projects
The Council, with support from the Ministry for Business, Innovation and Employment (MBIE), will shortly begin public discussions about opportunities for supporting our district’s economic growth in partnership with central government.
“We’ve had some early discussions with the government about accessing support from the Provincial Growth Fund – a government fund which aims to lift productivity in the provinces – to support major projects in our district,” says Kapiti Coast District Mayor, K Gurunathan.
“We can now confirm that Kapiti is eligible to make applications to the Fund, and the next step is to start having conversations about how to make the most of the opportunity.”
Mayor Gurunathan says the discussions will kick off with a public meeting at the end of October, jointly hosted by the Council and officials from MBIE.
“I’d encourage everyone to come along and talk about how we – iwi, communities, businesses, central government and the Council – can shape our district’s future.”
Kapiti Coast District Mayor, K Gurunathan.
“This is a unique opportunity for Kapiti, a chance for the community to join forces with central government and look at how we can further develop the district.”
